What is the compensation volume of a pipeline?
Pipeline compensation volume is a measure taken during pipeline design and installation to ensure the safety and efficiency of pipeline operation. Its main function is to balance the internal and external stresses of the pipeline to avoid excessive stretching or compression of the pipeline, which can lead to the life and safety of the pipeline being compromised.
In the arrangement and installation of pipelines, several factors are usually involved, such as the diameter, length, medium and environment of the pipeline. These factors may have different effects on the stress of the pipeline. Therefore, in order to ensure the operational safety and efficiency of the pipeline, it is necessary to compensate the pipeline, i.e., to balance the internal and external stresses of the pipeline by setting accessories such as rubber joints or flanges at both ends of the pipeline to reduce or eliminate the stress.
The selection of compensation amount is closely related to the performance and requirements of the pipeline. Different types of pipelines need different types of compensation volume, for example, for pipelines with high temperature and high pressure media, a larger or smaller compensation volume needs to be selected.
